Code of Conduct
Applies to: All users and content on Dropfield
Dropfield is a place for sharing short, location-anchored thoughts and observations. We want it to feel interesting, human, and safe to explore. This Code of Conduct explains what’s welcome here, what isn’t, and how moderation works.
We expect all users to follow these guidelines.
The Short Version
- Be curious and kind, not cruel
- Don’t spam
- Don’t harass people or misuse locations to target or intimidate others
- Use flags to protect the space, not to win arguments
What’s Welcome
We encourage content that is:
- Thoughtful, curious, funny, or expressive
- Local observations or reflections tied to a place
- Weird, mundane, poetic, or ephemeral
- Respectful of the people who might encounter it
Disagreement is fine. Criticism is fine. Being a jerk is not.
What’s Not Allowed
Content may be removed and access may be limited or blocked if it includes:
Abuse & Harassment
- Hate speech or slurs
- Threats of violence or intimidation
- Harassment, bullying, or targeted insults
- Dehumanizing language toward individuals or groups
Spam & Manipulation
- Repeated or automated posting
- Promotional content, ads, or referral schemes
- Posting the same or similar content across many locations
- Attempts to game visibility or engagement
Illegal or Dangerous Content
- Encouraging or facilitating illegal activity
- Explicit instructions for harm
- Non-consensual sexual content
- Doxxing or sharing private personal information
Disruptive Use
- Content intended primarily to provoke outrage
- Posting solely to derail or disrupt the experience
- Abuse of the flagging system
Flagging Content
Flagging is a community safety tool, not a disagreement / dislike / downvote button.
You should flag content that is...
- Spam or obvious bad-faith promotion
- Rude, abusive, or harassing content
- Hate speech, slurs, or threats
- Illegal or dangerous content
- Content that clearly violates the rules above
Don't flag content because...
- You disagree with the opinion
- You don’t like the tone
- It’s strange, awkward, or uncomfortable (but not abusive)
- It challenges your beliefs
Flag thoughtfully! Repeated misuse of flags may result in restrictions.
Moderation & Enforcement
Moderation decisions may include:
- Content removal
- Temporary posting or visibility limits
- Removal of access, including permanent restrictions in serious cases
We may also take action without a user report if content clearly violates these rules.
Moderation is performed by humans, assisted by tooling. We aim to be fair, but we can't debate every decision publicly.
Edge Cases & Judgment Calls
Not everything fits neatly into rules. Context matters.
If content creates a hostile or unsafe environment (even if it technically avoids a rule) we may still take action to protect the community.
Appeals & Feedback
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may contact us at support@dropfield.app. Be concise and respectful — abusive appeals will be ignored.
In Closing
Dropfield works best when people use it in good faith.
You don’t have to be nice all the time, but you do have to be human. Remember: what you post may be encountered by people who live, work, or pass through that place every day.
Thanks for helping keep this space worth exploring. Now get out there and say something!
